Something new

Sean tried something new for our Mig:

Glider Backpack! He went and put together a cradle for his Electric Mig. Complete with a servo release mechanism.

This then allowed him to strap a light weight glider like the Alula on top of the Mig. The setup works brilliantly. He was kept busy taking Alula after Alula up for a glider session. Height was no problem, only the size of the Alula limited the up ride.

Well done Sean and what a great idea! It was just what we needed for those windless days especially for us slope addicts.

Some shots from Maitlands.

Older man Tony, built these Migs. Two for his two grandsons.....display only, and two for himself.

Seans machine in the air at last.

Barry taking on the entire squadron......brave guy!

Mike going up.

Morne has everything in his vans workshop....including watermelon!!

So I thanked him by taking his fin off and escorted it into the bush!

Jims very pretty and very scale Mig-7!....including pilot and Russian dials!

Markus's party trick!

So when doing the normal things become boring........Markus likes to do his favourite crowd pleaser!!......normally, he knows he has to push,.....but now and again, he pulls!......this time he did the right thing...and pushed :-)

A perfect sloping day

Every now and again along comes a day with perfect conditions. The wind blows straight up the slope creating incredible lift perfect for RC sloping.

Well, this was one of these perfect days, wind, as Sean likes to say, as smooth as a baby’s breath. Sean, Morne, Breton and I took full advantage of these conditions at Maitlands.

It was great fun cruising low along the ridge. We were trying all sorts of tricks: spot landing, formation and combat flying and touch and go’s off the road behind the ridge.

We flew our self dizzy well into the evening and even were treated to a spectacular African sunset.

Below is a sequence of photos to give you guys some idea of what I am talking about.

Enjoy the photos

This is what he writes:

Hi
Here is my Mig in her natural fynbos habitat.
We're running a build-a-thon on Tuesday evenings with 6 more Migs in the making.
There is a pretty decent slope here in Langebaan.
Cheers

Well welcome Francios to our Mig world enjoy flying this fun plane and remember pictures are always welcome here.
