  3. Oh.. i see.. great job! Pity that i don't have access to a plotter.
And which motor did you use? Which is the AUW?

  4. Thanx for the compliment. We dont have access to a plotter either. We take the plans, from the net, to our local Xerox, Cannon etc office and ask them to print/plot to whatever scale we want. We take it to them on a flash drive, they have no problem with that and charge us a small fee. The AUW is about 1kg for a 1200mm span. For the specs on the motor go look under the older posts, you will find pictures as well.

  5. Great looking plane! You guys have a fantastic blog here. I find myself coming back everyday just to see what you guys are up to. I fell in love with the Mig7 first time I saw Dave's plans. Now that I have seen all the great looking birds you guys have made, I ordered an electric powerplant and have started to build one myself. The weather here in Newfoundland is starting to clear up so we might actually get to go flying soon :)
Again, great job on the plane, and great job on the site.

    Fly safe and have fun!

  6. Thank you Koopster. Daves plan works very well for all aplications, slope, electric, glow etc. Please send us some pics of your Mig build and we will post them on our blog! Thanx again for the comments.

  7. Thanks Sean. I will send some pictures, you will just have to tell me where to send them as I am pretty much blog illiterate. I also noticed in a lot of your build photos you seem to using a lot of hot glue. Have you had good luck with that? I have been pretty much using poly glue with a spray of water exclusively in my builds, but hot glue would certainly speed things along :)
    Have a good one.

  8. Hey Mike, You can send the pics to seanoelofse at telkomsa dot net

No spaces in the address above and use the correct punctuation. Hope you can decipher it :-)

Yes Mike, I use hot glue for 98% of the build. I only use contact/shoe glue to close the wing. When you glue the first spots to, for example, a former, you have to wait for the glue to cool, but once those are done , the rest go quick.

Where are you in the world Mike? Tell ua a few things relative to your build so I can add to your photos.

    Happy landings.

  9. Hi Sean,
Thanks.I hope to start the build in the next week or two, just have to finish the 26cc spad bipe I have on the table right now. I am in St.John's Newfoundland Canada, which is a rather large island (111,390 sq. km)about 160kms off the east coast of Canada. Average Temperatures:
in Winter Between 0°C and -15°C, Summer Between 10°C and 20°C. Being out in the middle of the North Atlantic has quite an effect on our weather. (we had wet snow yesterday for example). For us, 25km wind is considered close to a dead calm day. Our coastline is very rugged, and we don't have many places to slope as we have very few beaches, mostly just lots of rock. The nicname of Newfoundland is actually "The Rock", and if you have ever been here, you will soon understand why :)
I belong to the Club 4752 Aeromodellers Inc, which has a facebook group, but now website yet. 4752 is actually our lat and long, and there are lots of pictures of the field and the "boys" on the site.
I have actually used hot glue is a few spots on this build, and for holding formers etc, it certainly is the cats meow. Thanks for the tip.
Well I hope you guys are getting lots of flying in, and if the weather ever breaks here, I am sure we will too.
    Have a good one.
Fly safe and have fun. (Which has actually become our club motto)

  10. Mike, I am "sorry" to hear of your weather conditions. Wow!, no good having so much wind around with no slopes to fly on.. :-( How much power flying do you get to do?
And then there is the cold. I suppose you have to be born there to get used to it. Here, our winters are as cold as your summers.
I am no scout, so how do I find your club on Google with those long/lat co-ord? I found Newfoundland, where there is your field? Did you manage to get my e-mail sorted?
I had a look at the FB page. Some great pics and facilities. Well done. Looks like your club is going to get stronger day by day!

    Happy landings.

  11. Sean, you don't move here for the weather :)
It is funny how soon you get used to it. I can remember when 20 seemed like a really cold day, now....any more than 20 and I am whining about how hot it is.
If you just paste 47°29'42.01",-52°46'22.31" into the search fly to on google earth, you will see our field. The shot on google earth is close to a year old I think as thee is no evidence in the view of our starting stands, picnic table or even the markers for the field. It is a great place to fly though, very flat, very long and a nice stand of trees that make a good wind break for those cross wind landings. Last year I burned about 5 gallons of glow fuel and about half a gallon of gas. This year I hope to burn a lot more gas, and a lot more electrons. I will send you an email and some pictures once I get my act together and get this gasser finished.

Fly safe and have fun! Talk to you later.

  12. Thanx Mike, it works....found your field. I wish our field was so close to town. Sounds like you fly plenty. My work interfers with my hobby :-)

Anyway, make sawdust or coro shavings and chat later.

  13. You taught me something Mike...hear is our field. It too was taken more than 2 years ago as we now have a clubhouse right next to, in the centre of, the pit apron. Must have been on a Sunday. I can tell by the number of cars and where they have parked. 33°52'31.94"S 25°21'2.70"E Our club name.. Port Elizabeth Radio Flyers (PERF)

    Hope it works.

  15. Thanx Mike, but the pic was taken a short while after we had some flooding...dark patch SW of field is water. Since then we have been declared a disaster area....no water. So it is not as "country" as it seems. BUT HEY!!! you'r welcome to come anytime. Your accomodation is reserved :)
