At last.......MAIDEN FLIGHT...!!!!!

After many weeks of fighting the unfair and uncooperative weather, and a number of other obstacles, Ashley and I were able to Maiden our Migs today.......

Not only did we get to maiden them from the Lady's Slipper, we were able to fly them at Maitlands shortly thereafter.........ALL ON ONE DAY......!!!!!!

Ash was up first......after a hairy launch (Dad's sh!t throw)....a few clicks to the right and one click down were all that were needed to get her flying straight and level. Mine was up next, and what a perfect launch....the proverbial homesick angel......
Both aircraft flew beautifully, and we now cannot wait for Hermanus.........Imp's beware!!!!!!

Today was a day like few before. Maitlands was on a mission. To prove Murphy does have his say..... again.
Last week when I had time to fly myself DIZZY, there was no wind. But alas, as I am working the entire weekend, she blows like the world is about to end. Well done to Daron, and Gavin, for the successfull maiden flights of their Migs. Seems that Darons Mig has a problem though....it keeps flying inverted..? Must be the pilot, he will deny it, because everything else was good :-)
Morne showed us that a correct CG (balance point) makes a plane fly much better. This after two VERY UNSUCCESSFULL launches. He also showed us that one does not need a mid-air to loose orientation and go full tilt into tera firma. His corrostang came out with little bush-rash. Will post some pics of the stang and Gavins mig. Thanx to JL Productions for bringing the slope to a screen near ME!! Thanx Johann!!....Sean.

It’s a Mig double maiden

Sean and myself managed to maiden our Mig’s today. The wind was on the lighter side with lift coming and going. But nerverless we managed to get a couple of good flights in.
Johan had fun with his electric hotliner (Zoom), but unfortunately Morne struggled with his corrostang. But never mind just to be up here is a treat.
My maiden went very well. I just needed to dial some up and a little right trim. As they say: build right, fly right ;-)
Bring on Hermanus I am ready!

Maiden flights.

Today two of the Mig-7's from the home build got to see the blue yonder from close-up. Well done Markus on a very successfull maiden flight. Your color scheme (red and grey), did well, being clearly visible. Conditions were not the best, but this is where the slope played a major role. The wind strength was about 15km, guestimate, comming side on. We could not loop, rolls were slow, inverted flight was short. But something I noticed, I was alwasy in control and could still push the envelope knowing I could recover safely. Enjoy the photo's and please make comments. We would like to hear from you. Sean.

A good day for a Maiden

Well I thought today (Sunday) is the day I am going to maiden my brand new Mig.

The wind was blowing really hard in town. 25knots reported at the airport.

Great for a Maiden! (So I thought)
Guess what; got to Maitland in a hurry just to find out that the dreaded bubble has struck again. :-(
It’s blowing a Gail in town but nothing out here.
Well the day was not a total loss for me. I spend the morning with the glider guys out at Cuylor Manor at the flat field.
I managed to fly my Siren for the first time. I was quite nervous on takeoff, but should not have worried. She flew straight and level. I only needed to dial in some up and right trim. Plenty of power, point the nose upwards and she rockets up like a home sick angel.
If anything the CG needs to move back a couple of millimeters. The recommended CG is 50 millimeters from the leading edge.

I think that depends on the power train. My setup: Eflite power 15, 80A ESC and a 2200mA 4S lipo.
With the correct CG the Siren is going to be a blast on the Hermanus slope.
I can not wait!!
